它的味道比其他豬肉製品(如Pancetta) 更強,質地也更加細膩。

風乾豬面頰肉可以切成塊直接食用,也可用在番茄煙肉麵(Amatriciana )。作為意大利中部的特產,尤以翁布里亞和拉齊奧出產的為佳。
